Everything you need to know about working with SubPrecision.
SubPrecision helps businesses get established, stay organized, and grow their business. We handle the business side—compliance, bidding, operations, and marketing—so you can focus on doing the work. Whether you're just starting or trying to scale, we provide the systems and support to help you operate like a professional company.
We primarily work with small businesses and trade companies, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, construction, and specialty trades. Most of our clients are either just getting started or looking to grow and become more structured and consistent in how they operate.
No. We work with both new and existing businesses. If you're just getting started, we'll guide you through the entire setup process. If you already have a business, we'll evaluate what's missing and help you improve your structure and operations.
Freelancers typically handle one task at a time—like building a website or designing a logo. SubPrecision focuses on the full picture: helping you become contractor-ready, win work, and run your business efficiently. We're not just completing tasks—we're building systems that help your business grow.
Most contractors require a combination of proper business registration, insurance (like general liability), licensing (depending on your trade and location), and onboarding documentation such as W9 forms and safety policies. We help you gather, organize, and present everything so you meet these requirements professionally.
We provide guidance and structure for the process, but we do not act as a legal or licensing authority. We help ensure you understand what's required and assist you in completing the steps correctly so you don't run into delays or rejections.
A Certificate of Insurance (COI) proves that your business is insured. Many contractors will not work with businesses that don't have proper insurance coverage. We help you understand what coverage is needed and how to maintain it.
We identify relevant bid opportunities through public listings, private networks, and contractor relationships. We focus on opportunities that align with your trade, location, and capabilities so you're not wasting time on jobs that aren't a good fit.
Yes. Depending on your service package, we can prepare and submit bids on your behalf. We ensure your submissions are professional, complete, and aligned with what contractors expect.
Winning bids isn't just about price—it's about presentation, completeness, and professionalism. We improve how your business is positioned, structure your proposals, and help you avoid common mistakes that cause businesses to lose opportunities.
No one can guarantee job wins. However, we significantly improve your chances by helping you submit stronger, more professional bids and positioning your business correctly.
Back office support includes the systems and processes that keep your business running—like invoicing, tracking jobs, managing documents, and organizing customer information. Many businesses struggle here, which leads to missed payments, lost information, and inefficiencies.
Yes. We help set up systems that allow you to track jobs, expenses, and payments so you have a clear understanding of your business performance.
We recommend simple, effective tools based on your needs. The goal is not to overcomplicate your business, but to create structure that saves you time and improves organization.
Yes. A website builds credibility and helps contractors and customers take your business seriously. Even a simple, professional site can make a big difference in how you're perceived.
A Google Business Profile helps your business show up in local searches and on Google Maps. It's one of the easiest ways to increase visibility and attract leads in your area.
Yes. We focus on building a strong foundation—online presence, visibility, and credibility—which leads to more inquiries and opportunities over time.
Pricing depends on the level of support you need. We offer three monthly advisory plans—Essential ($695/mo), Growth ($1,995/mo), and Transformation ($4,995/mo)—as well as project-based services for specific challenges like fleet optimization, inventory management, and government contracting setup.
No. We focus on delivering value. Some clients choose ongoing support because of the results, but we don't lock you into unnecessary long-term commitments.
It depends on your starting point. Setup and organization improvements can happen quickly, while winning work and growing your business takes consistency over time. Our goal is to build a strong foundation that produces long-term results.
The first step is scheduling a consultation. We'll review your current situation, identify gaps, and outline a plan to help you move forward.
SAM.gov (System for Award Management) is the official U.S. government system where businesses must register to do business with the federal government. It's a free database that validates your business information, banking details, and certifications. Registration is mandatory for any company that wants to receive federal contracts or grants, and must be renewed annually.
A UEI (Unique Entity Identifier) is a 12-character alphanumeric code assigned to your business through SAM.gov. It replaced the DUNS number in April 2022 as the official identifier for entities doing business with the federal government. The UEI is free to obtain and is required for all government contracting activities.
A capability statement is a concise, one-to-two page document that serves as your company's resume for government buyers. It includes your core competencies, past performance, differentiators, company data (UEI, CAGE, NAICS codes), and contact information. It's often the first document a contracting officer reviews when evaluating potential vendors.
A UEI can be obtained in 1-2 business days. SAM.gov registration typically takes 7-10 business days for validation. State vendor registrations usually take 3-10 business days. SBA certifications can take 3-6 months. We recommend starting at least 30-60 days before you plan to actively pursue opportunities.
Absolutely. The federal government is required by law to award at least 23% of all prime contracting dollars to small businesses. Programs like 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB, and SDVOSB create set-aside opportunities where only qualified small businesses can compete. State and local governments have similar programs.
No. While past government performance is valuable, agencies also accept relevant commercial experience. Many businesses break in through smaller contracts, subcontracting under prime contractors, or micro-purchases (under $10,000) that have simplified requirements. SubPrecision helps position your commercial experience for government evaluators.
Government registrations themselves are free. SubPrecision's Government Readiness program starts at $3,500 (includes registration support, capability statement, and opportunity tracking). Government Growth starts at $5,500 (adds agency targeting, pipeline development, and proposal support). Ongoing Bid Management is $1,500/month.
Government contracting is a long-term strategy. Most businesses should expect 6-12 months from initial registration to first contract award. Some see faster results through micro-purchases, subcontracting, or local government contracts. The key is building a consistent pipeline and submitting quality proposals regularly.
